Tired of rushing through attractions, cramming into buses, and early departures with late returns? Try this new way of traveling in Yunnan with the concept of ‘travel by day, sleep by night, deep immersion’ — the ‘Kunming’ Tourist Train. Approved by the railway department and operated by a professional travel agency, this themed train is not just a mode of transport but a ‘mobile resort hotel’ traveling through ancient cities, rainforests, tea mountains, and terraced fields. Explore cultural and natural wonders during the day, and fall asleep to the gentle sound of the rails at night, with a flowing landscape painting outside the window.
🌿 Route and Destination Highlights:More than just checking in, it’s about immersion
Starting from the Spring City of Kunming, the ‘Kunming’ connects three major regions: Central Yunnan, Southern Yunnan, and Western Yunnan. It covers diverse attractions such as Jianshui Ancient City, Mengzi Bisezhai, Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden, Pu’er Ancient Tea Horse Road, Tengchong Volcanoes and Hot Seas, Cangyuan Cliff Paintings and Tiankeng, Shaxi Ancient Town, and Weishan Ancient City. Unlike regular group tours, the ‘Kunming’ adopts a ‘small group + special train’ model, avoiding peak crowds throughout the journey, focusing on cultural experiences and a relaxed pace.
Jianshui:A blend of a thousand-year-old Confucian temple and purple clay culture, with the Shuanglong Bridge spanning the Lujiang River, exuding timeless charm.
Hekou:A border port city between China and Vietnam. Bisezhai was once a key hub on the Yunnan-Vietnam Railway and a filming location for the movie ‘Youth’.
Xishuangbanna:The Chinese Academy of Sciences Tropical Botanical Garden is known as the ‘Kingdom of Plants’, and the Gaozhuang Night Market is full of vibrant energy.
Pu’er:The Ancient Tea Horse Road Heritage Park tells the legend of the horse caravans, while the Yeyatang Coffee Estate showcases modern agricultural tourism integration.
Tengchong:Heshun Ancient Town is peaceful and elegant, the Rehai Hot Springs steam with mist, and Beihai Wetland boasts rich biodiversity.
Cangyuan:Deep in the Awa Mountains, the tropical rainforest Tiankeng and the thousand-meter cliff painting corridor are mysterious and pristine.
🚂 Slowly travel through Yunnan, a mobile resort hotel sleeping in the scenery — the all-new 2026 ‘Kunming’ Tourist Train experienceShaxi/Weishan:Living ancient towns on the Ancient Tea Horse Road, not overly developed, preserving authentic local life.
The train has 16 carriages, with a capacity of about 264 people.
