With a history of over 600 years, it is a major attraction showcasing ancient Uyghur residential architecture and folk customs. 【Golden Grassland】Named for its golden grasslands in autumn, this vast area boasts natural landscapes including wetlands, meadows, rivers, and snow-capped mountains. It is a beautiful reserve of nomadic culture, teeming with cattle and sheep, and a picturesque scene.
Stone City is a famous ancient city ruin in Xinjiang, located north of Tashkurgan County at an altitude of 3,100 meters. It was an important post station on the ancient Silk Road, originally built in the Han Dynasty, and once served as the capital of Puli, one of the thirty-six kingdoms of the Western Regions. Adjacent to the Golden Grassland, Stone City forms a magnificent natural and historical landscape.

Within the scenic area, numerous bazaars, such as the Hat Bazaar, Dried Fruit Bazaar, and Jade Bazaar, vividly showcase the ancient city’s millennia-old civilization.
[Afternoon] [Kashgar Old City West District] (Including Id Kah Mosque, tour lasts about 2 hours) Continue to explore the old city.
【Id Kah Mosque】(40-minute visit) The mosque was built in 1442 and covers a total area of 16,800 square meters. It is not only the largest mosque in Xinjiang, but also the largest mosque in China.

【Lop Nur Village + Shuttle Bus】(Approximately 120 minutes visit) Explore the ancient ethnic group that lives by fishing along the Tarim River. Located 35 kilometers southwest of Yuli County, the Lop Nur Village covers 72 square kilometers and belongs to the Qiongkule Pasture. It is a secluded paradise inhabited by the Lop Nur people, encompassing the Taklamakan Desert, shifting lakes, the Tarim River, primeval poplar forests, grasslands, and the Lop Nur people themselves. The desert, inland river, green corridor, and Silk Road converge here, creating a natural landscape of exceptional quality. The Lop Nur people are one of the oldest ethnic groups in Xinjiang. They live near small lakes along the Tarim River, “not cultivating grains, not raising livestock, but only fishing by small boats for food.”
As we venture deeper, we see vast stretches of poplar trees along the Tarim River, and then we arrive at the boundless Taklamakan Desert, known as “China’s largest desert.” Here, you can ride camels (personal entertainment, at your own expense).
Afterwards, we returned to Urumqi and checked into a hotel.
Day 9: Beitun City – (2+1 VIP Bus) Wucaitan (1-hour visit) – Altay (Birthplace of Skiing; Learn to Make Skis)
Meals: Breakfast: On the train (4 people/table) | Lunch: Local specialty meal | Dinner: Local specialty meal
Accommodation: Altay Zunmao Gem Hotel or similar
[Morning] After arriving in Beitun, drive to [Wucaitan Scenic Area] (approximately 1 hour visit). The south bank of Wucaitan features an oasis, desert, and blue sky, while the north bank is composed of colorful mudstone, sandstone, and gravel forming strangely shaped rocks. The rock layers are composed of red, reddish-brown, light yellow, and light green sandstone, mudstone, and conglomerate, with varying colors, resembling colorful castles, monsters, and peaks. It is a cliff-style Yardang landform, with undulating terrain and changing colors, formed by the combined erosion of a powerful river and strong winds. Due to the varying resistance to weathering among the riverbank rock layers, the contours are uneven. The rocks here are multicolored, and under the sunlight at sunset, the rocks are predominantly red, interspersed with green, purple, yellow, white, black, and transitional colors, creating a vibrant and charming spectacle, hence the name “Wucaitan” (Five-Colored Beach) and is hailed as “Xinjiang’s most beautiful Yardang landform.”
[Afternoon] After lunch, drive to Altay City to learn how to make skis in the city where skiing originated.
After the meal, check into the hotel.

Accommodation: Hemu Township (Within Scenic Area); 5-star rated hotel: Hemu Holiday Resort Hotel or similar
[Morning] The vehicle travels along Xinjiang’s second scenic highway, the Ahe Highway, to see the most beautiful autumn scenery in Xinjiang in September (approximately 6 hours of sightseeing).
[Afternoon] Arrive in [Hemu]. Stroll around Hemu Village, watch a performance in a century-old house, admire the flowers of Jiadengyu alpine grassland, the wooden bridge over the Hemu River, and visit the Tuva village and wooden houses in Hemu River.
Kind tips
1. This day, we have specially arranged to stay inside the Hemu Scenic Area. Due to the environmental protection requirements of the nature reserve, only a small number of accommodations are open to tourists in the Hemu Scenic Area, and rooms are often hard to find. The distinctive wooden houses and rich Tuva style, along with the morning mist and the rising smoke, make you feel like you are in a fairyland.
2. The route mainly involves mountain roads, so guests who are prone to motion sickness should take motion sickness medication or take other precautions beforehand.
3. Xinjiang has a large temperature difference between day and night. Please bring warm clothing such as a light down jacket, hat, mask, and gloves when traveling. The temperature difference between indoors and outdoors is large. It is recommended to be careful when taking a shower and not to shower for too long or go out immediately after showering to avoid catching a cold.
Day 11: Hemu: Yunxiao Peak (Including Cable Car Fee) – Kanas (2-hour bus ride) (VIP Shuttle Bus)
Meals: Breakfast: Hotel breakfast | Lunch: Local specialty meal | Dinner: Local specialty meal
Accommodation: Starry Sky: Kanas log cabins, Cloud Pavilion or similar
【Morning】Wake up naturally, or climb Yunxiao Peak (cable car up and down): 2,800 meters above sea level. From the top of Yunxiao Peak, you can enjoy panoramic views of four countries: Russia to the north, Mongolia to the east, Kazakhstan to the west, and Xinjiang to the south. It is said that the sunrise and sunset here are very beautiful.
[Afternoon] Drive to Kanas and proceed to the [Kanas Scenic Area] (approximately 2 hours drive, overnight stay within the scenic area, sightseeing schedule uncertain). Kanas boasts Asia’s only Swiss-style scenery and is hailed as humanity’s last pure land, God’s backyard, and a paradise for immortals. In Mongolian, it means “beautiful, rich, and mysterious.” Here, lakes and mountains blend seamlessly, possessing both the grandeur of northern landscapes and the delicate beauty of southern China.
Kind tips
1. Passengers who are prone to motion sickness should take motion sickness medication or take other precautions before entering mountainous areas.
2. The temperature difference between day and night is significant in mountainous areas. Due to altitude or weather conditions, the temperature may be even lower in some areas. Therefore, it is still necessary to bring a jacket or sweater when traveling in summer, and warm clothing such as a light down jacket, hat, mask, and gloves for autumn and winter. The temperature difference between indoors and outdoors is also significant in the morning and evening. It is recommended not to shower in the hotel or to avoid going out immediately after showering to prevent catching a cold.
Day 12: Kanas (Morning Stroll, Fish Viewing Platform) (2+1 VIP Bus 230km=4.5h) Beitun City – (New Oriental Special Train) Yining

[Morning] Free time in the village, you can get up early to watch the sunrise.
Alternatively, you can choose to take a bus to [Fish Viewing Platform] (a complimentary attraction, no refund if you choose not to visit; due to time/weather conditions and speed limits on mountain roads, this attraction will be decided by the tour guide and tourists based on the actual situation).
Reaching the halfway point, walk up 1068 steps to the top of the mountain for a panoramic view of Kanas Lake.
Stroll along the wooden boardwalk by the lake and experience the leisure and tranquility of the Kanas Scenic Area.

Day 13 (New Oriental Special Train) Yining – (2+1 VIP Bus) Liuxing Street (2-hour sightseeing) – (2+1 VIP Bus, 2.5-hour journey) via Guozigou Bridge – Sayram Lake
Meals: Breakfast: On the train (4 people/table) | Lunch: Local specialty meal | Dinner: Local specialty meal
Accommodation: 5-star Hilton Hotel/Wanda Vista Hotel (Urumqi) or similar
[Morning] [Liuxing Street] (Approximately 2 hours for the entire tour). Yining City is a melting pot of multiple ethnic groups and cultures, and Liuxing Street bears witness to the unique cultural symbiosis of the integration of foreign and local cultures. Liuxing Street has become a large-scale cultural tourism area that is beautiful, peaceful, harmonious, and vibrant, encompassing characteristic street and alley sightseeing, cultural displays, courtyard tourism, distinctive dining and entertainment, and handicraft processing and retail.
[Afternoon] Travel to Sayram Lake via the Guozigou Bridge (approximately 2.5 hours by car). Guozigou is the gateway to the Ili River Valley, with its white clouds, blue skies, snow-capped mountains, pine trees, and winding paths, offering breathtaking scenery. The entire bridge is constructed of steel truss beams, using 17,000 tons of special bridge steel from China, and connected with high-strength bolts, with installation precision controlled within two millimeters. The bridge is the first cable-stayed bridge on a highway in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, and also the first double-tower, double-cable-stayed steel truss bridge on a highway in China.

Meals: Breakfast: Hotel breakfast | Lunch: Local specialty meal | Dinner: On the train (4 people/table)
Accommodation: 5-star Hilton Hotel/Wanda Vista Hotel (Urumqi) or similar
[Morning] Visit [Sayram Lake] (approximately 4 hours for the entire tour), formerly known as the Western Pure Sea, is the highest and largest alpine cold-water lake in Xinjiang. Because it is the last place touched by the warm, moist air currents of the Atlantic Ocean, it is called the “Last Tear of the Atlantic.” The Haixi Grassland is covered with wildflowers—yellow, purple, red, a riot of colors; nearby, the blue water and sky shimmer, while in the distance, snow-capped mountains blend seamlessly with the sky, creating a scene reminiscent of a watercolor painting.
[Afternoon] Drive to Yining and take the New Oriental Express to Urumqi.
