📝 Detailed Route Introduction
On April 27, 2026, the Panda Special Train Jinxiu Tianfu completed its inaugural test ride. The first official passenger service is scheduled for May 19, with a 16-day full North and South Xinjiang itinerary. This special train is jointly created by China Railway Chengdu Group Co., Ltd. and Sichuan Tourism Investment Group, with a Chinese-style “Shu Brocade Song Dynasty Charm” design theme, integrating panda elements and traditional aesthetics. The entire train is like a mobile cultural art museum, allowing tourists to feel a strong cultural atmosphere during the journey.
The entire special train has 18 carriages, with 46 guest rooms, including 2 carriages of Jin Ta luxury rooms, 10 carriages of Jin Wo quality rooms, and is also equipped with multi-functional welcome carriages, multi-functional dining cars, entertainment viewing cars, as well as supporting kitchen and living cars, crew cars, and power cars, with complete facilities. The train is staffed with dual guides, dedicated train butlers, 24-hour luggage attendants, and medical personnel providing attentive services, ensuring a seamless itinerary and a more worry-free travel experience for tourists.

This 16-day North and South Xinjiang route adopts a “travel by day, rest by night” model. During the day, tourists get off to visit attractions, and at night, they rest on the special train, without having to frequently pack luggage and change accommodations, making the travel pace more relaxed. The route connects multiple core tourist areas in North and South Xinjiang, from Tianchi Lake in Tianshan, Hemu Scenic Area, Kanas Scenic Area, Sayram Lake, and Nalati Sky Grassland in North Xinjiang, to the Duku Highway, Tianshan Secret Grand Canyon, Baisha Lake on the Pamir Plateau, Muztagh Ata Peak, and Karakul Lake in South Xinjiang, and then to Kashgar Ancient City, Jiaohe Ancient City in Turpan, Flaming Mountain, and Karez Well. It covers various types of landscapes such as plateau lakes, mountain grasslands, canyon landforms, ancient cultural cities, and Silk Road relics. The itinerary also includes multiple special activities such as cocktail parties, welcome banquets, specialty afternoon teas, Jiaohe Ancient City concerts, and intangible cultural heritage handicraft experiences, catering to tourists with different travel needs.
Since the spring of 2026, many scenic spots in Xinjiang have reopened, and various tourism supporting facilities have been upgraded and optimized, making the tourist experience more comfortable. Note that the Duku Highway is recommended to open in summer and autumn, and the October 2nd departure has already canceled related arrangements for the Duku section. Involving weather, road conditions, policies, scenic area openings, schedule changes, tickets, vehicle types, etc., the itinerary can be reasonably modified with mutual agreement.

💡 Travel Tips
Document Preparation:Valid documents must be carried throughout the trip, as they are required for verification at scenic spots, hotels, and checkpoints. For the route to Tashkurgan, a travel permit must be obtained in advance. It can be applied for free at your household registration location or at government service centers in Urumqi or Kashgar with valid documents.
Clothing Preparation:Xinjiang has large temperature differences between day and night, and some mountain sections can be cool even in summer. It is recommended to dress in layers, preparing short sleeves, light jackets, thick jackets, or light down jackets that can be added or removed as temperature changes. Xinjiang has strong UV rays, so it is advisable to prepare high-SPF sunscreen, sunglasses, sun hats, and other sun protection items, as well as lip balm and moisturizing products to cope with the dry climate.
Other Preparations: Carry a small amount of cash, as some small shops and gas stations in remote areas may not accept mobile payments. Prepare common gastrointestinal medicines, cold medicines, and altitude sickness relief medications in advance to deal with sudden discomfort during the trip. Some remote areas in Xinjiang have weak signals, so download offline maps in advance as a backup.
Travel Reminder:Some scenic spots in Xinjiang are located in mountainous areas with winding and steep roads. Please fasten your seatbelt when riding. During the tour, follow the relevant management regulations of the scenic spots, protect the environment, and travel civilly.
